LEARN / BUILD / GROW

What every founder should know.

Each topic ends with a small action. Work from idea to scale.

01 / THE FOUNDER PLAYBOOK

From idea to a sustainable venture

01 / 10
✳

Problem and customer

Define who experiences the problem before describing your solution. Understand how customers solve it today, how often it occurs and what it costs them. Ask about past behaviour rather than whether they like your idea.

First step: interview 10 potential customers and record three recurring needs.

02 / 10
✳

Value proposition

Explain the benefit, the customer need and your difference from alternatives in one sentence. Focus on changes in time, cost, convenience or outcomes instead of a list of features. Refine the sentence using customer evidence.

First step: complete “We help this customer solve this problem by delivering this benefit.”

✳

Market validation

Interest does not always mean readiness to buy. Look for observable behaviour such as preorders, paid pilots, trials and repeat visits. Decide in advance what result would support your assumption, and document negative results as learning.

First step: choose one assumption, one experiment and a measurable success threshold.

04 / 10
✳

Business model

Show who pays, how revenue is earned and how you reach customers on one page. Include major costs, partners and activities. Treat a business model canvas as a working document that changes as evidence improves.

First step: complete a business model canvas and mark its three most uncertain areas.

✳

First product and MVP

Build the smallest solution that tests your riskiest assumption. It might be a clickable prototype, a manually delivered service or a limited product. Learn whether real users use it and what benefit they receive.

First step: choose one user group and a single core use case.

06 / 10
✳

Team and partnership

Discuss founder responsibilities, time commitments, decisions and expectations early. Seek professional help when documenting equity, intellectual property and departure terms. Regular feedback and clear ownership make collaboration more effective.

First step: write down each founder’s responsibilities, time commitment and decision areas.

07 / 10
✳

Finance and cash flow

Revenue and cash in the bank are different. Track collections, payments, fixed costs and product costs each month. Estimate your runway under several scenarios, and use qualified support for tax and accounting requirements.

First step: prepare a six-month forecast of cash inflows and outflows.

08 / 10
✳

Intellectual property and legal basics

Brands, software, designs, content and inventions may need different protection. Review customer and supplier contracts, personal data processing and sector rules for your business. Check that general templates fit your jurisdiction and activities.

First step: list the data, intellectual assets and core contracts your business uses.

09 / 10
✳

Sales and growth

Focus first on a defined customer segment and one measurable acquisition channel. Track conversion, acquisition cost and repeat use. Before increasing spending, understand why customers stay and which outcomes create satisfaction.

First step: choose one channel and track consistent metrics for four weeks.

✳

Pitch and funding

Explain the problem, solution, customer evidence, market, business model, team and next milestone. Separate assumptions from achieved results and explain why you need resources. Consider customer revenue, support programmes and partnerships alongside investment.

First step: present your venture in 10 slides and practise a two-minute pitch.
